Permanent Makeup, (ie. micropigmentation or dermagraphics), combines art and science to produce long lasting cosmetic enhancements by tattooing pigments into the skin to accentuate the color and shape of eyes, brows and lips. The entire process involves an initial consultation, application of the pigment, and one or two touch up appointments to adjust shape and color.

Permanent make-up is a way to save time and make your life easier, to wake up feeling good about how you look. Permanent makeup is the perfect solution for the busy person who is tired of fussing with makeup throughout the day, for the athlete or outdoor person who does not want to look bare, and for those with oily skin whose topical makeup tends to disappear after a short time. Permanent makeup is also helpful to those with allergies to conventional cosmetics, those with visual impairment or shakey hands, and those with other disabilities that have difficulty applying makeup. Permanent makeup simplifies your life and helps you to look your best ALL THE TIME.

Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area for comfort. You may experience some slight discomfort but most patients describe it as minimal. Pigments are iron oxide based and are hypoallergenic. Allergic reactions to pigments are extremely rare in cosmetic tattooing. Equipment used to implant the pigments are pre-sterilized and disposable for one use only applications to minimize risk of cross contamination.

RECOMMENDED : Although permanent makeup technicians cannot prescribe any medications taken prior to a procedure, many clients have had beneficial results when taking an antihistamine and a pain reliever (non aspirin or ibuprofin) taken prior to the procedure to help minimize swelling and inflammation.

EYELINER can be applied in various styles just as you can draw it on in different ways with an eye liner pencil. It can be a clean crisp line, or a soft smudgy look, or can be layered with accent colors. Many colors are available from black, all shades of brown, blue. green, turquoise, purple, etc. Color shadow accents above and below standard eyeliner can also produce stunning effects.

LASH ENHANCEMENT places the pigment only in the lash line to create a more natural looking effect, just enough to give our eyes more definition.

LIPCOLOR can be custom mixed for a shade similar to your favorite lipstick. One application typically produces a light result, then after receiving one or two touch up's it will produce a more vibrant result. Results vary depending on color applied and amount of pigment implanted. Lip fullness and shape can be enhanced or minimized by tattooing on the outside or inside of the edge of the lip just as you would draw it with your lipliner pencil. Using 2 or more shades can create a more contoured and dimensional look.

EYEBROWS create a frame for the face. The most natural looking method is a hairstroke or hair simulation tecnique achieved by tattooing individual hairs of 2 or 3 colors to give the brow contrast and dimension. This is preferred method for those with very sparce or nonexistant brow hair.

A shaded method can be done to produce a solid, defined shape. This method works better for those with fuller existing brow and would look similar to a penciled in look.

• Be aware that Texas does not currently regulate educational requirements for permanent makeup technicians. Many technicians have only attended a one or two day workshop or learned from a DVD. Check credentials of education before having a procedure done. A competent, qualified technician will have pictures of their work and certificates of training. Choosing a technician based on price alone can often lead to selecting someone with less experience, so be careful . You get what you pay for and it's permanent!
